'Doctor Who At The Proms 2010'

For the second time, The BBC Proms (an eight-week summer season of orchestral music performed at the Royal Albert Hall every day) had a special Doctor Who installment. It was once again full of Murray Gold's music from the show, complete with appearances from many aliens (Silurians, Cybermen, Daleks, etc) and guest appearances from Who actors (Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, Arthur Darvill).

However, the icing on the cake was a live appearance from Smith's incarnation of The Doctor, desperately trying to defuse a bomb with the help of a little boy in the audience. Very silly, but delightful. A potent reminder of how much charm and appeal this show has, particularly to the younger fans.

An extended edition of Doctor Who At The Proms will be broadcast on BBC3 this Friday at 7pm, a HD version airs on BBC HD on Saturday at 5.25pm, and there's currently some behind-the-scenes material available via the interactive red-button.
