The CBS remake of iconic cop show Hawaii Five-O made its UK debut on Sky1 last night at 9pm, attracting an impressive 717,000 viewers -- almost triple the average for that timeslot. I reviewed the pilot last year for Obsessed With Film, which I enjoyed but felt no compulsion to continue watching. Have I been missing a real treat?
Hawaii Five-0 has been one of this season's big success stories in the US; debuting to 14.2m, holding steady around 10m most weeks, with a recent episode spiking to an incredible 19.3m. It looks like Sky may also have a successful Sunday night show, up against Being Human in the multichannel stakes. Of course, Five-0 couldn't topple any of the terrestrial offerings: Channel 4's brand new drama The Promise (a very disappointing 1.68m), BBC1's repeat of Wallander (2.3m), BBC2's Arctic (3.59m), ITV1's Dancing On Ice (7.4m) and Wild At Heart (7.3m) combo, and Channel 5's movie Rush Hour (1.19m)
